Church Growth Trust’s work today is rooted in a long history of supporting churches and helping
them care for buildings held for Gospel ministry. This story helps explain how that experience has developed — and what it means for churches today.
Our story
1906
Where our story began
Our roots go back to 1906, when organisations such as the United Kingdom Evangelization Trust, now Stewardship, began holding church properties in trust for Gospel ministry.
Over many decades, churches entrusted their buildings to this ministry, creating the foundations on which Church Growth Trust was later established.
2010
Church Growth Trust is founded
Building on more than a century of Christian service, Church Growth Trust was formed as an independent charity dedicated to church property trusteeship and helping churches plan confidently for the future.
2012
Midland trust merger
Church Growth Trust merged with Midland Evangelization Trust (MET), enabling us to support more churches and secure more buildings for Gospel ministry.
2014
Miracle House built
Miracle House in Wickford became the first new church building developed by Church Growth Trust, creating space for a growing congregation.
2019
100 properties entrusted
More than 100 church buildings were being held in trust, providing secure, affordable homes for ministry across England and Wales.
2020
Supporting churches through Covid
As churches faced unprecedented challenges, we provided practical guidance to help them navigate changing regulations and continue serving their communities safely.
2025
150 properties entrusted to our care
Today, over 150 church properties are held in trust by Church Growth Trust, helping ensure they remain in Gospel use for future generations.
