Who we are

We are Church Growth Trust, your experts in church properties.

Church Growth Trust is an evangelical Christian charity. We help independent evangelical churches care for their buildings and plan for the future.

Church buildings are places of worship, used for outreach and linking with the community. They are often held in trust for Gospel ministry for generations to come.

Looking after a building brings legal, practical and long-term responsibilities. Many churches reach a point where they need clarity, guidance or support in navigating these.

We are here to help churches understand their situation, explore their options and take wise, practical steps forward. Our vision and mission guide this work and set out the strategic objectives we are working towards.

What we do

We work alongside churches to support them in caring for their property and planning for the future. This may include helping churches to:

Understand how their property is held and managed
Clarify legal responsibilities and trustee roles
Explore options for future trusteeship or ownership
Care for buildings so they remain fit for Gospel use

Every church is different. Our role is not to take over, but to provide clear advice, practical guidance and reassurance — helping churches make informed decisions at the right time.

A partnership approach

Church Growth Trust works alongside churches, not over them. Many churches begin by simply asking questions or exploring one area of support. There is no expectation to make immediate decisions. We take time to listen and understand each situation, helping churches move forward at a pace that is right for them. Our aim is to reduce uncertainty, ease pressure on trustees and provide confidence about the future.

Who we work with

We work with churches in different ways, depending on their situation and how their building is held. We take on properties from independent evangelical churches that are considering transferring responsibility for their building to Church Growth Trust. We also let our buildings to evangelical churches for Gospel ministry, including those that are part of a denomination.

Because these situations are different, the criteria for working with us will also vary. If you are unsure how this applies to your church, we are always happy to help you understand your options.

Supporting churches with experience and care

Church Growth Trust (and its predecessor, Stewardship) has been supporting churches with their buildings for over 100 years through its heritage organisations.

Today, we support over 150 churches in our properties across England and Wales. This experience gives churches confidence that the property they occupy is in safe and experienced hands.
